Apple is working on laptops and smartphones, which is powered by hydrogen fuel cells, which will last for weeks without needing to recharge the battery. This was disclosed through the filing of a patent.
In the two documents submitted to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the iPhone maker said the proposal was to eliminate the need for large and heavy batteries.
Hydrogen fuel cells convert hydrogen and oxygen into water and electrical energy. This technology has long been touted as a potential power source for clean cars. Electronics manufacturers have also shown interest to replace the batteries that rely on toxic chemicals with hydrogen fuel cells that will last longer and produce water as the rest of the production process.
"Our country continued dependence on fossil fuels, has forced our government to maintain political and military relations are complicated by the instability of governments in the Middle East," Apple said in the filing of patents, as reported by the Telegraph, Monday (226/12/2011).
Two patents, 'Fuel Cell System to Power a Portable Computing Device' and 'Fuel Cell System Coupled to a Portable Computing Device', instead of the first signs that Apple is working to replace the battery technology.
Battery technology has long been regarded as an obstacle in the Apple smartphone industry. Leading developer of microchip will also focus on developing processors with low power.
